Nine seats and up · with a driver

Tempo traveller on rent in Chandigarh.

For the trips a car cannot solve. Twelve seats, room for everyone’s luggage, and a driver who runs the hill roads every week. Weddings, office outings, and Shimla or Manali with the whole group in one vehicle.

How it is priced

What decides the price per kilometre.

Most people arrive here asking what a tempo traveller costs per km. The honest answer is that it depends on four things, and we would rather quote you the real number than publish an average that is wrong for your trip.

How many seats
Nine and upA twelve-seater and a seventeen-seater are different vehicles at different rates. Tell us the headcount, including children.
Where you are going
Plains or hillsShimla and Manali are slower, harder on the vehicle and longer days for the driver than a run to Delhi or Amritsar.
How many days
Priced per dayMulti-day trips include the driver’s time and his overnight stay, so a three-day trip is not three single days.
One way or return
Both are quotedA one-way drop costs less than a return, but the vehicle still has to come home and that is in the number.
Driver
Always includedA tempo traveller is not self-drive. The driver comes with it, and fuel is in the quote.
Tolls and state taxes
Listed separatelyPunjab, Haryana and Himachal each charge their own on an outstation run. We show them rather than bury them.

FAQ

Common questions about tempo travellers.

How much is a 12-seater tempo traveller per km?
It depends on the route, the number of days and whether it is one way. Rather than publish a per-km figure that is wrong for most trips, we quote the whole journey with fuel, the driver and his overnight stay already in it. Send us the route and headcount and you will have it in minutes.
Does it come with a driver?
Always. A tempo traveller is not a self-drive vehicle. Fuel is included in the quote, unlike our self-drive cars where fuel is on you.
How many people actually fit?
Twelve comfortably in the common size, with larger vehicles available. Count children as seats and tell us how many bags — luggage, not people, is usually what decides the size you need.
Is there a security deposit?
No. Deposits apply to self-drive rentals, where you are responsible for the vehicle. With our driver, our driver is.
Can it go to Manali and Spiti?
Manali, yes, and it is one of our most common group trips. Spiti is a different matter — the road past Kaza is not a tempo traveller road, and for that we would put you in 4×4s instead. We will tell you plainly rather than take the booking.
Would two cars be cheaper?
Sometimes, for eight or nine people on a short trip. But you then need two drivers or two people willing to drive, and the group gets split up. Ask us both ways and we will give you both numbers.
